A year ago or so I was in a record store in the capital of the state where I live, in the country where I live; It’s a nice place. I was looking through their singles and I spotted this 7″ by Bonnie “Prince” Billy for a couple of bucks. I hadn’t heard of it, so I just decided to go ahead and buy it. When I got home I realized that it was Will Oldham’s very first release under the name Bonnie “Prince” Billy. After a quick listen, these two songs became some of my favorites of Bonnie’s. If you are a fan of BPB and you don’t have this single, then your ears will definitely applaud this one. Push the button.

In 1975 Danny and Judy Rose-Redwood put out a record by the name of Homecoming. A nice folk echo – I can’t say I don’t think of John and Beverly Martyn when I hear this one. A simple combination of male and female vocals with guitar has a beautiful result. These Rose-Redwoods made some fantastic music that deserves a listen or two. I Don’t have the entire album as someone apparently decided to make it impossible to obtain, but I’d definitely give these two songs a listen. If anyone has the entire album and are feeling generous, then please share it with us.

“I am on my way to the lune, no words can be said”.
This could be more familiar than you think.

Some good music coming out of Houston, TX. Recorded 80 years later than you probably think is the music of Monte Cantsyn. He’s got a nice blues sound with a lot of originality. A real talented musician, definitely check this stuff out.
